Jamie Leweling proudly presented a Brazil shirt with a dedication by the legendary Ronaldo in connection with a social media post from the Germany forward that went viral.
Leweling was given the number nine shirt for the World Cup, a number worn by many stars, including the 2002 title winner Ronaldo.
He celebrated it by posting a photoshopped picture of himself with Ronaldo's iconic 2002 haircut with the triangle.
The photo went viral and also reached Ronaldo, and a Brazilian TV presenter handed Leweling a shirt signed by Ronaldo with "To Jamie Leweling. All the Best. Ronaldo" after Germany's victory over Ivory Coast on Saturday.
Leweling presented the shirt at Tuesday's news conference, saying: “Everyone noticed that I changed my profile picture before the World Cup – yes, that Ronaldo hairstyle.
"It was actually a bit of fun, or at least meant to be. But it’s since attracted so much attention that even the real Ronaldo gave me a shirt. I was really pleased about that.”
The story could continue as Leweling pledged to make the photoshopped picture a reality if Germany lift the trophy on July 19.
"If we win the final I’ll definitely get that hairstyle," he vowed.
