Kota Kinabalu: Api-Api Assemblywoman Datuk Christina Liew has made a personal Chinese New Year donation to Persatuan Kecergasan & Pembangunan Orang Tua Kota Kinabalu (Persatuan KOAT).
She made the gesture during her visit to the association’s centre on Monday to give out bags of Chinese New Year goodies and her 2023 calendar to the members.
“I am happy to see you all again today. Hopefully, my contribution will enable the association to hold its festive gathering and other monthly activities.
“I am also inviting Persatuan KOAT to attend The Society of Hope Chinese New Year Charity Dinner 2023. It will be held on Feb 3 at the Hakka Hall,” Liew, who is also Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, said to applause.
She was welcomed on arrival by the Chairman of Persatuan KOAT Tang Yew Hia, Immediate Past Chairman Datuk William Chang Chin Shin who is also President of the Council of Sabah Senior Citizens Associations, and Secretary-General Liew Syn Biau.
In his address, Tang said the Api-Api Assemblywoman has always shown concern and interest in the affairs of the association.
“In fact, this is the first non-governmental organisation (NGO) to be visited by her since her appointment as Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment,” he said.
Chang, who also spoke, hoped that the minister would take time off to attend some of the activities planned by the association for the current year.
