Following PM Narendra Modi’s recent appeal for energy conservation and reduced fuel consumption, Kurukshetra University has taken a proactive step towards promoting environmental sustainability and responsible living on campus.

KU VC Som Nath Sachdeva on Friday walked from the his residence to his office as part of the university’s awareness initiative aimed at encouraging energy conservation and eco-friendly practices. Addressing the campus community, Sachdeva urged teachers, officers, employees and students to minimise the use of private vehicles and adopt healthier alternatives such as walking and cycling wherever possible. He emphasised that every citizen could contribute to national interest through small yet meaningful actions.

He said making the choice to walk or cycle short distances instead of using vehicles would not only help save petrol and diesel but would also play a vital role in protecting the environment.

Sachdeva called upon the university fraternity to spread awareness about energy conservation and strive towards turning the effort into a collective movement. KU Registrar Virender Pal also walked to his office, stating that small individual efforts could combine to bring about significant positive change in society.
