  • US skier Lindsey Vonn has spoken about her recovery from a broken leg in an interview with Vanity Fair after crashing out of the Olympics last month.
  • Vonn revealed how she was in “extreme pain” during an initial CT scan before heading to the hospital in Treviso, Italy, and that she screamed “get me out”, such was the pain that is now “seared into my brain”.
  • Team USA doctor Thomas Hackett said the first surgery went “great”, but Vonn then woke up in the night screaming louder than she had when the crash happened.
  • Vonn said she was checked on every three hours by nurses while lights remained on in her hospital room until 11pm as she admitted: “It took everything I had for it to not drive me insane”.
  • Despite having multiple surgeries on her leg, Vonn has returned to the gym and has not ruled out making a sensational comeback as she stated: “I don’t like to close the door on anything”.
