A lion dance troupe in Kota Kinabalu stuns netizens with a spinning “helicopter mode” pole stunt set to viral remix music

AS Malaysians, many of us have watched traditional Chinese lion dance performances.

However, in Kota Kinabalu, three adorable lions took things to the next level by going into full “helicopter mode”.

In a TikTok video shared by @ctudungsarung, a lion dance troupe delivered an eye-catching stunt in which a yellow and a pink lion were seen spinning at the top of a tall pole, estimated to be about 20 feet high.

At the same time, a green lion performed agile moves across rows of pillars at varying heights, showcasing impressive balance and coordination.

The video was paired with the famous “Helicopter Helicopter” remix by Bosnian singer Fazlija, perfectly matching the troupe’s spinning stunts and adding a humorous touch to the performance.

Netizens filled the comments section with jokes and laughter, praising the “top-notch” act. Referring to the lions’ different colours and the festive season, @its.me_salz quipped that the green lion represented Ramadan, the pink one Valentine’s Day, and the yellow lion Chinese New Year.

Another user joked that the trio looked like strawberry, lemon and matcha drinks.

Amazed by the height of the poles, some viewers even cheekily asked whether the lions had “flown” up there.
