Little change in Sabah’s Covid situation

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded 76 additional Covid-19 cases, Monday, bringing the State’s total to 373,508, according to Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

Masidi who is also Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson said, the overall situation had not changed much, compared to Sunday. There were 19 districts that did not register any infection within the past 24 hours.

“Penampang recorded 23 new cases, compared to 14 yesterday (Sunday), but Kota Kinabalu witnessed a drop of 13 new cases from 56 to 43,” he said in a statement, Monday.

“Four districts that recorded new infections yesterday did not register any new cases today. They are Papar, Sipitang, Kudat and Beluran.

“However, four other districts, namely Kota Marudu, Kota Belud, Kuala Penyu and Tawau that were “free” from new infections earlier recorded new cases.

“However, the fluctuation of new cases was marginal.”

All 76 new cases on Monday were in Categories 1 and 2, and Sabah also recorded 72 recoveries – cumulatively 366,309.

Some 49 additional cases or 64.47 per cent of Monday’s new cases were detected through symptomatic screenings while 21 cases were found through contact screenings and another six through other screenings.

On vaccination, as of Sunday (June 19), 2.5 million individuals in Sabah had received their complete doses with 77.1 per cent of them are adults.
