Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk risks further punishment after being sent off in victory at Newcastle.
Van Dijk will be suspended for one game after being shown a direct red for denying Alexander Isak a goalscoring opportunity.
However, the Daily Mail says he could face a lengthier ban after verbal volleys fired at ref John Brooks and fourth official Craig Pawson.
Ex-Prem ref Mike Dean said: "Van Dijk disagreed as he unleashed a verbal volley on fourth official Craig Pawson, which was out of line."
FA guidelines state players can receive further punishment for 'improper conduct' such as abusive language.
