DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke proposes a Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council meeting to address concerns over UMNO General Assembly statements.
SUNGAI BULOH: DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said he will propose to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Presidential Council convene to discuss recent political developments following statements made at the UMNO General Assembly.
He said the recent statements raised concerns regarding political certainty and stability, which could affect investor and public confidence in the country.
Loke said the developments were viewed with concern and serious consideration, adding that he would request Anwar, who is PH chairman, to call for a Presidential Council meeting to review and discuss the latest developments upon his return from his overseas trip.
“Some of the statements made are of course not good in terms of political certainty and political stability in the country, as component parties in the government seem to not be heading in the same direction.
“So this is something which would not give much confidence to investors and to the public. The Prime Minister must also make this clear with all component parties,” the Transport Minister said.
Loke said this when met by reporters after officiating the CARSOME Academy M.V.15 Vehicle Inspection Centre at the CARSOME Dealer Hub here.
He was responding to media queries on remarks made by UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in his winding-up speech at the recently concluded UMNO assembly, which touched on Barisan Nasional’s (BN) position in the Unity Government.
On whether PH would seek clarification on BN’s position or the challenges issued by the UMNO leadership, Loke maintained that any official top-level response should come directly from the Prime Minister.
