Hundreds of thousands of people are set to flock to the streets of London in celebration of the city’s historic Pride parade.
Following an iconic route through London landmarks including Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus, the 35,000 marchers will be cheered on by crowds every step of the way.
Based around the campaign ‘An Alliance of Defiance’, this year’s festivities will highlight the ways in which queer people stand together to support each other.
As part of our campaign championing people in Pride Month, The Independent has again partnered with Pride in London and launched our iconic Pride List for 2026, which celebrates the LGBTQ+ community’s biggest trailblazers.
London Pride was first held in 1972 and was organised by the Gay Liberation Front, who were inspired by the Stonewall Riots in New York City.
Today, it is expected to draw around 1.5 million people to the capital in a day of celebration and activism for LGBT+ communities.
The parade will kick off at around midday in Hyde Park and finish at around 6pm on Whitehall. But the celebrations are expected around the city, and will continue long into the night.
