Loose Women star Kaye Adams to make radio return after BBC departure

Kaye Adams will make her return to radio on October 4 after she was taken off BBC Radio Scotland last year reportedly due to allegations about her behaviour.

The Loose Women star, 63, will co-host a one-off Sunday Brunch show with fellow broadcaster Shereen Nanjiani from 9am to 12pm on STV Radio.

The pair will play some of their favourite songs during the show and discuss the stories behind what makes them so special.

The programme will be Adams’s first significant radio appearance since her departure from BBC Radio Scotland, where she spent 15 years hosting the flagship morning programme.

Adams addressed a number of the accusations in a statement shared on Instagram, denying she had berated an intern or used a misogynistic slur.

She said: “I categorically deny using a misogynistic slur 14 years ago and I’m horrified at its invention more than a decade later. It is absolutely not a word I would have used.

“As for ‘berating an intern’, this is simply untrue.

“Regarding the allegation that I threw a pencil while alone in an empty studio, words fail me.

“I am heartbroken that 15 years of hard work and dedication to BBC Scotland is being reduced to this.”

The BBC did not comment on the reason for Adams’s departure but the broadcaster confirmed she would not return to the role.

Adams first joined STV as a reporter in 1988 and later became a presenter on Scotland Today and the talk show Scottish Women.

Adams said of her upcoming role: “STV has such a special place in my heart and I’m delighted to be back for a trip down memory lane with my old pal, Shereen ‘The Screen Queen’ Nanjiani.

“This show will give her the chance to tell everyone how excruciating my accent was when I walked into STV HQ 38 years ago.”

Nanjiani added: “I’m delighted to get this chance to co-host with Kaye as STV is where our lifelong friendship began and I have so many happy memories of our time there.
