Trevor Nelson announces radio return after successful brain tumour surgery

  • BBC Radio presenter Trevor Nelson, 62, has announced his return to the airwaves after undergoing successful surgery to remove a brain tumour.
  • The broadcaster revealed that his world was turned upside down by the sudden diagnosis over the summer, leading him to step back from all work commitments to focus on his health.
  • Following what he described as a very serious surgery that went incredibly well, Nelson shared that he feels energised, in good health, and raring to get back to work.
  • He will begin a gradual return to his Radio 2 afternoon show from Monday 7 September and his 1Xtra show from Sunday 13 September, before resuming his full-time schedule on Monday 28 September.
  • During his absence from the BBC stations, Nelson's usual radio slots were covered by fellow presenters DJ Spoony and Clara Amfo.
