KUNAK: A lorry carrying a load of palm kernel shells overturned at KM4, Jalan Kunak Spur, on Monday morning, knocking down a streetlamp.
Kunak District Police Chief Supt Rejali Angong said the incident occurred at about 7.50am on a straight stretch of road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer onto the road shoulder.
“The accident resulted only in damage to the vehicle and the streetlamp. No injuries were reported,” he said, adding that investigations are ongoing.
He advised road users to comply with traffic regulations at all times and to take the necessary safety precautions, including ensuring they are well-rested and alert before driving.
Motorists were also urged to exercise extra caution when travelling through Pan Borneo Highway construction zones and to obey all traffic signs put up by the authorities to help prevent similar accidents.
