The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will register an “ek tarfa" (one-sided) victory under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state chief Kewal Dhillon in Punjab in the upcoming elections, said Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini.
Saini, who visited the Mata Bhadrakali Temple in Kapurthala on Sunday, congratulated the newly appointed Punjab unit President, Kewal Singh Dhillon.
While responding to party chief Capt Amarinder Singh’s reservations regarding Dhillon’s appointment, Saini said the party state unit leaders were together and Dhillon also had the blessings of Capt Amarinder Singh.
Saini also said the state was witnessing “maha loot" under the present government. Sporting a saffron turban and a pink jacket, the Haryana CM paid obeisance at the temple with folded hands, met local shopkeepers and women and later addressed the media, along with BJP leader Som Parkash and Kapurthala district president Ranjit Singh Khojewal.
His visit comes a day after the state BJP chief Kewal Dhillon had alleged unprecedented fraud in the recent MC elections of Punjab.
Responding to queries on BJP’s prospects in the state after the MC elections, Saini said, “In Punjab, BJP will contest the upcoming elections alone. BJP will register an ‘ek tarfa’ (one-sided) victory under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. People of Punjab have made up their minds for the BJP. The policies and schemes under the Prime Minister, which we are running in Haryana, will also be implemented here."
On Kewal Singh Dhillon, Saini said, “Kewal Singh Dhillon bare beebe vyakti ne. (Kewal Singh Dhillon is a very decent man). Under his leadership, the lotus is going to bloom in Punjab. The party has placed a big responsibility on him. I welcome him wholeheartedly."
Addressing charges of vote fraud in recent MC polls in the state, Saini said, “The biggest example of vote theft and violation of democracy is in Punjab, under the AAP government. It’s evident in the ‘gundagardi’ which has been witnessed in Punjab. But there are only 5-6 months to go, people understand everything."
He added, “Congress says democracy is being choked, vote theft is happening. Those of the INDI alliance talk about this a lot. AAP and Congress say the same thing. They were in alliance and worked on the same ideology. "
On whether any leaders from other parties were in contact with the BJP, Saini said, “No one is in our ‘sampark’ (contact). The only ones we’re in contact with are the people of Punjab. They’ve decided, ‘Ab ki baar Modi di double engine ji Sarkar’."
On CM Bhagwant Mann’s claims on forming the next government, Saini said, “Bhagwant Mann is a ‘kalakar’ (artist). He tells good jokes, and people clap. But claps don’t satiate hunger and don’t guarantee growth and development."
Speaking on extortion cases in the state, he said, “There was loot in Punjab during the Congress government, but during AAP, there’s ‘maha loot’. No one knows who may get an extortion call. All this is being done well within the government’s knowledge."
