Kota Kinabalu: There should be no distinction between loving Sabah and loving Malaysia because the two are inseparable, Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said.
Speaking to reporters after launching the State-level National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign on Saturday, he said Sabah is an integral part of Malaysia and loving the State naturally means loving the nation.
"We are not choosing whether to love Sabah more or Malaysia more. The two are part of one," he said, adding that discussions about Sabah were also discussions about Malaysia because the State is one of the country's key components.
Masidi urged Sabahans to focus on their role in shaping the State's future, saying development would be strengthened through the collective efforts of the government and the people, with everyone contributing ideas and working together to address challenges.
He also said Sabah should continue setting its own development priorities based on the needs of its people instead of comparing itself with other regions, stressing that strengthening Sabah ultimately strengthens Malaysia.
