A dog allegedly left behind after its owner moved away continued searching for them every day and waiting outside the front door of its former home.
Its story, shared in a Facebook post, drew sympathy from netizens, who also thanked an uncle for stepping in to help.
Refused to leave the front door
According to the post, the dog refused to go downstairs when called, choosing instead to remain outside the unit.
“It wanted to wait outside the front door of its home. It was waiting for its owner,” the post read.
The writer described the dog as loyal and compared its wait to the story of Hachiko in Japan.
In the comments, one user said the incident happened in Seri Kembangan, citing the original post.
Uncle stepped in to help
However, the situation had also become difficult for residents. The post said the dog was not aggressive, but had been urinating and defecating around the area.
An uncle eventually brought the dog downstairs and placed it in a cage temporarily while arrangements were being made for someone to take it in.
The accompanying photo shows a man with a brown and white dog on a staircase.
According to the post, someone had already expressed willingness to care for the dog. It did not confirm whether the dog had since been taken to a new home.
Urged owners to find their pets another home
The writer also questioned why anyone would leave a pet behind simply because they were moving house.
If owners could no longer care for their animals, he urged them to find someone willing to take over that responsibility.
“If you keep a dog, care for it until it dies. Otherwise, let someone else continue caring for it. Don’t just leave it behind,” he wrote.
Netizens thanked the uncle and worried for the dog
In the comments, several netizens expressed sadness over the dog’s situation, while others thanked the uncle for helping.

Another hoped someone would provide food and water and take the dog for short walks, expressing concern about how a former pet would cope on the streets.
