Kuala Lumpur: Zoo Negara Malaysia has opened a new home for its Asian small-clawed otters, located in front of the capybara enclosure.
The zoo announced the new exhibit in recent social media posts, inviting visitors to see the otters in their new surroundings.
The Asian small-clawed otter is the world’s smallest otter species and is known for its highly social nature.
According to the zoo, the species can live in family groups of up to 15, with strong family bonds, while activities such as chasing, wrestling and sliding down muddy banks help develop their hunting and social skills.
The new otter home is part of the zoo’s latest visitor offering, giving visitors an opportunity to observe the animals’ social and playful behaviour up close.
