MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is coordinating with technical experts from various government agencies to strengthen the security of its database following a security breach in one of its online support platforms.
Acting LTFRB chairman Greg Pua Jr. said on Saturday that the agency is now working with information technology (IT) experts from the Department of Information and Communications Technology and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center to assess the extent of the incident involving the LTFRB Electronic Support System (LESS).
The specific data involved and the full impact of the incident are still undergoing technical validation, according to Pua, a lawyer.
The bureau is also coordinating with the National Privacy Commission on the matter, he stressed.
The LTFRB assured the public that all necessary data security measures are being implemented to address the incident at the earliest possible time.
“Meanwhile, LESS has been temporarily placed on offline status,” the LTFRB chief said.
As a result, all services and transactions related to LESS are suspended until further notice, Pua added.
He reiterated that its own IT experts continue to work with their counterparts from relevant government agencies to ensure the safe restoration of the system.
All concerned offices and personnel are advised to refrain from accessing or processing any transactions through LESS until an official advisory on the system's restoration is issued, Pua said.
