LTFRB summons taxi operator over ‘livestreaming’ driver

THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued a show-cause order against a taxi operator after one of its drivers was caught livestreaming on social media while driving, in violation of the agency’s anti-distracted driving policy.

LTFRB Chairman Vigor Mendoza II said Friday the operator was ordered to explain within three days from receipt of the order why its Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) should not be suspended or canceled over the incident.

The driver was seen in a social media video conducting a livestream while driving the taxi, an act prohibited under LTFRB Memorandum Circular 2026-050.

“The memorandum made it clear that we will not tolerate such actions because they endanger not only the driver and passengers but also other road users,” Mendoza said.
