Since opening its doors in Bangsar Shopping Centre back in 2022, all-day dining spot Luca has been serving up inviting Indian flavours. The restaurant, part of The Olive Tree Group, isn’t just beloved for its dishes but also its beautiful and sleek interior. For the uninitiated, The Olive Tree Group is also behind destinations such as Frangipaani, Rockafellers, SOL and Te Amo.

Now, Luca has entered a whole new chapter with a refreshed culinary identity. In fact, Luca’s menu now comprises a fusion of European and Indian fare. Hence, one can expect to savour a wide array of distinctive and wholesome dishes that help build a gastronomical experience unlike any other. Contemporary techniques and strong flavours really take centre stage with Luca’s newest offerings.

Some standout dishes we tried during our visit to Luca were the ‘Homemade Sourdough’ with Truffle Mushroom Pâté, Roasted Bell Pepper Dip and Truffle Butter, ‘Truffle Funghi Pizza’ with Blanco Sauce and Aged Mozzarella, ‘Aloo Gobi’ (Cauliflower and Potatoes with Onions, Ginger and Spices) and ‘Spinach Chaat’ (Spinach Fritters with Yoghurt, Date-Tamarind and Mint Chutney). From these creations alone, it’s easy to notice the seamless interweaving of European and Indian flavours.

We also really enjoyed the ‘Prawn Biryani’, a classic dish elevated with Luca’s signature flair and plump prawns. For something succulent, the ‘Pistachio-Crusted Lamb Rack’ is the option to go for. The latter comes paired with Lamb Jus and Truffle Mash. Presented and sliced table side, the lamb offers up a hearty and ambrosial flavour profile.

Speaking of table side, at Luca, desserts are definitely not after-thoughts. That includes the ‘Crêpes Suzette’ — prepared in front of guests with Caramel, Orange Butter and Honey Ice Cream. And of course, it’s also fun and exciting (and a little fiery too) to watch the team concoct the dish. The ‘Vermicelli Kulfi’ is another unique sweet treat, The phyllo pastry comes served with Pistachio, Coconut and Mango Ice Cream Cubes as well as Rooh Afza Coulis.

From our experience at Luca, it’s clear that its refreshed menu and its setting are carefully thought out. Indulgent and diverse dishes allow for both sharing and individual meals. There are vegetarian options, refreshing drinks (both mocktails and cocktails) and more — with something for anyone and everyone to savour.
