A case of alleged embezzlement of lakhs of rupees has come to light from a factory located in the Focal Point area of Ludhiana. The accused is the factory owner’s personal assistant (PA), who allegedly embezzled Rs 70 lakh.

Sources said that the accused was fond of expensive vehicles. The Focal Point police registered a case against the accused under Section 306 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession) of the BNS.

Complainant Siminder Thapar, a resident of Haibowal Khurd, told the police in his statement that he worked as a senior executive in the internal audit department at the Suntex International factory on Sua Road, near Gobindgarh village. He handles all factory’s accounts.

Thapar added that Gurpreet Singh, the PA of factory owner Vaneet Sood, had been working for the past one-and-a-half years. He took advantage of the owner’s name and position to embezzle approximately Rs 70 lakh through various methods over several months. The factory owner trusted Gurpreet completely, but it wasn’t long before he found his nefarious intentions.

The accused is a native of Jand Maneke village Tarn Taran, and currently a resident of Shine Property, Sector 32-A, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana.

The matter came to light during an audit and a complaint was filed with the police, which conducted a raid at the accused’s house and recovered some cash also.
