The Mataur police have registered a case against a Ludhiana resident and leader of a regional party, Jaskaranjit Singh Deol, under various Sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The victim’s father reported that his wife was living with the accused in a society in Sector 70, Mohali. The accused attempted to rape his minor daughter aged 15. In October 2024, Jaskaranjit allegedly took his daughter to a hotel in Mohali and sexually assaulted her. When she resisted, the accused threatened her and her mother.
In May 2026, the accused again attempted to molest the minor, alleged the complainant. He threatened that he would throw the girl into a canal and hire gangsters to kill her. The girl later returned to her father, the complainant alleged.
After recording the victim’s statement, the Mataur police registered a case against the accused under Sections 64, 65(1), 351 of the IPC and 6 of the POCSO Act.
