The Ludhiana police claimed to have cracked the case of a blind murder of a woman whose body was found in a sack near the Alamgir Bypass in the Dugri area of Ludhiana about six months ago. After months’ long investigation, the police cracked the case and arrested the former live-in partner of the woman.
DCP Jaskiranjit Singh Teja said when the woman’s body was found six months ago, she had a ‘B and J’ tattoo on her hand. When the police took a photo and started a probe, her husband Bablu and daughter confirmed her identity as Jyoti.
The victim had been staying in a live-in relationship with Rishipal of Moti Nagar since March 2025. In October 2025, she left the relationship and started staying in a rented house with her children, DCP Teja said, adding that on November 8, 2025, Rishipal took Jyoti on his motorcycle to his home in Lavkush Colony. An argument ensued between the two. In a fit of rage, Rishipal strangled Jyoti to death with the scarf she was wearing around her neck.
The DCP revealed that Rishipal carried her body on his bike to a new bridge being constructed on 200 Feet Road. Seeing the opportunity, he threw her body on a road under the bridge. The police recovered Jyoti’s mobile phone, voter ID card, the motorcycle used in the crime and the rope used to tie her body to the bike, during police interrogation.
The police said the suspect had killed her in a fit of rage after she stopped staying with him.
