In a remarkable display of skill, determination and sporting excellence, Rabbiguel Anji, a student of Harvest International School, Jassowal Kular village near here, clinched the No. 1 position in the prestigious Mini Punjab State Ranking Badminton Tournament.

Held at the Raizada Hansraj Badminton Stadium, Jalandhar, recently, the tournament brought together the most promising young badminton talents from across the state. Competing in the highly competitive U-13 boys’ category, Rabbiguel showcased exceptional court craft, agility and mental toughness to outplay his rivals and secure the top spot.

Currently, he is ranked 12 in nationals in the U-13 category. In the final, he faced slight challenge from his opponent Ryan Singla, also from Ludhiana, whom he overpowered easily in straight sets 21-13, 21-10 to annex the title.

Displaying consistency and composure beyond his years, the Class VII student dominated the tournament with a series of commanding performances. His sharp reflexes, tactical awareness and relentless energy on court left everyone in awe, underlining his growing stature as a future star in Punjab badminton.

Earlier, Rubbiguel romped home victorious in the U-11 group in the Punjab State Mini-Badminton Championship at Abohar in 2024, came out triumphant in the U-13 category in Amritsar in 2025, reached quarterfinals in U-11 category nationals in 2024 held at Thane.

Rabbiguel’s achievement is not an isolated case of success, but a continuation of his impressive journey in the sport. Over the years, he has built a reputation as a disciplined and focussed athlete, regularly delivering standout performances in competitive arenas. His latest triumph further cements his position as a force to be reckoned with in the regional badminton circuit.

Rubbiguel’s success story stands as an inspiration for aspiring athletes, highlighting the rewards of perseverance, dedication and passion for the sport. His victory not only brings pride to the institution, but also adds another glorious chapter to its ever-growing legacy in sports.

Gurdeep Singh, vice-president, Harvest Campus, along with director Sandeep Singh and Pourrushasp Farokh, principal of Harvest International School, lauded Rubbiguel’s achievement. “With such promising talent emerging from its ranks, Harvest International School continues to reinforce its reputation as a cradle of champions, shaping the future of sports in Punjab,” they said.

School officials also placed on record its appreciation for Balbir Singh, head of the physical education department, whose guidance was instrumental in achieving this distinction.
