Former European Ryder Cup player Andrew Coltart has seemingly criticised Ludvig Aberg’s caddie Joe Skovron after his final round performance at The Players Championship.
It was difficult to see past Aberg securing the biggest win of his career heading into Sunday at The Players Championship
The Swede began the last round with a three-shot lead. TPC Sawgrass is also a golf course he knows extremely well.
Unfortunately, he will probably be in no rush to return after the last round.
Ludvig Aberg’s caddie faces criticism after the final round of The Players Championship
Aberg finished four shots back of Cameron Young, with the 26-year-old four over par for the back nine. The damage was largely done on the 11th and 12th holes.
Aberg found the water with his approach into the par five, going on to make a bogey six. And the situation would get worse on the very next hole, with the youngster finding the water off the tee.

It was another big mistake from Aberg. And speaking on Sky Sports, Andrew Coltart suggested that the man on his bag should have stepped in ahead of that crucial tee shot on 12.
“I don’t understand this. Joe is an experienced caddie. The job here is to find the fairway. He is in control of the tournament. His head is scrambled on 11. Find the short grass. I am just a little shocked with that. From there, he had no chance,” he said.
Aberg set to face some tough questions after a nightmare Sunday at TPC Sawgrass
Aberg is perhaps the PGA Tour‘s biggest enigma right now. He clearly has the talent to win the biggest events in the game, with the victory at last year’s Genesis Invitational the biggest of his career. Rory McIlroy was full of praise for Aberg after his own final round had concluded on Sunday.
He has flirted with winning The Masters in both of his appearances at Augusta National. But there is a danger that he is not going to get across the line as much as he should.
It seems incredibly unfair to blame his caddie. Skovron has every reason to have full faith in Aberg’s game, even after a big mistake like the one on 11.
It would be no surprise if he silences his critics in the near future.
