Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a devastating disease that effectively places a “death sentence” on the patient as it’s incurable and stays with them for life.

HIV is commonly transmitted to another human being either through sexual contact, infected blood, or using needles tainted with the virus.

Diagnosed 15yo boy with HIV

A Malaysian doctor recently took to Threads and wrote that she diagnosed a boy with HIV when he was only 15, making him youngest patient to contract the virus so far.

In the post, she said that the boy, who’s now 18 years old, came back to the clinic after noticing a whitish liquid oozing out from his genitals.

The doctor added that the boy had missed the window of opportunity that would have kept the disease at bay and discovered that he was still actively practicing risky sexual activities.

“He still sleeps around and is quite addicted to the lifestyle. Only difference was that previously he was a ‘bottom’ in the relationships but is now a ‘top’.”

For the uninitiated, ‘top’ refers to individuals who take on a more dominant role during intercourse, while ‘bottom’ are those who are recipients of said dominance.

The doctor also revealed that the teen came from a broken family, where his mother and step-father are often left to their own devices and pay little attention to him.

Netizens express sympathy

In the comment section, netizens were horrified to hear of the teen’s situation and expressed concern for him.

‘So pitiful. He was only a child when he got diagnosed. People around him had failed him. I hope he gets referred to a psychologist and get proper treatment from now on.’
