Mohd Aini tours inspection lanes and key checkpoints within the Sungai Tujoh complex.

MIRI (May 6): High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Datuk Mohd Aini Atan conducted an official working visit to the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security (ICQS) Complex at Sungai Tujoh here on Monday (May 5).

A statement said the visit aimed to reinforce inter-agency collaboration and strengthen border management between Malaysia and Brunei.

During the visit, Mohd Aini and delegation were received by Miri Immigration chief Heneritha Martin, along with senior representatives from key enforcement and regulatory agencies stationed at the border post.

These are the Immigration Department, Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Royal Malaysia Police, People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela), Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM).

The delegation was presented with a briefing on the current operational landscape by Sungai Tujoh Control Post head Rosminda Pasang, who outlined the day-to-day challenges and cross border protocols in place.

Thereafter, a dialogue was held with representatives of agencies to identify areas for improvement, discussing procedural coordination and addressing operational hurdles, particularly in managing the high volume of daily cross-border traffic.

Mohd Aini later toured the inspection lanes and key checkpoints within the complex to observe ground-level operations and to better understand the infrastructure and frontline procedures undertaken by officers.

The working visit marked a renewed commitment towards enhancing bilateral cooperation and operational synergy at one of Sarawak’s most vital international entry points.
