Having good neighbours is truly one of life’s underrated blessings.

For one Malaysian family, what started as a short holiday away from home turned into a heartwarming reminder that kindness can come from the people living right next door.

Neighbours helped keep their parcels safe

A man recently took to Threads to share how his neighbours helped look after his family’s parcels while they were away from home for three days and two nights.

According to him, his family had gone on a short holiday and did not inform their neighbours that they would not be around.

However, during that time, several parcels were delivered to their house and left near the fence.

Instead of ignoring them, the neighbours reportedly took the initiative to collect the parcels and keep them safe, preventing them from being exposed to the sun or rain.

The man said he only realised what had happened after checking the CCTV footage outside his home.

To his surprise, the footage showed his Chinese neighbours walking over to his house several times, picking up the parcels that had been placed on the fence or stone pillar, and bringing them back to their own home for safekeeping.

What made the gesture even more touching was that the family had never asked them to do so.

Getting good neighbours is also a blessing. Alhamdulillah,” he wrote in the caption.

Not by request

In the post, the man explained that his family was away for 3 days and 2 nights.

He added that they did not ask their neighbours to collect the parcels, nor did they tell them that no one would be home.

“Maybe they noticed that the house was dark and quiet, because it’s usually lively with Dhia’s voice,” he wrote jokingly.

He also shared that his family is the only Malay family in the area, making the neighbours’ kindness feel even more meaningful.

Netizens touched by wholesome moment

The post has since warmed the hearts of many Malaysians, with netizens praising the neighbours for being thoughtful and caring.

‘Alhamdulillah. Having good neighbours is also a blessing.’

For some, the incident was a simple yet powerful reminder that living in harmony does not always need big gestures.

Sometimes, it can be as simple as helping to keep a parcel safe while your neighbour is away.
