A viral Threads post sparks debate after customers complain about loud staff chatter and poor etiquette at a chain supermarket.
WHEN working in customer service, there is a code of conduct that must be followed — especially when customers are present.
A viral post on Threads highlighted the issue after a local man shared his frustrations about workers at a chain supermarket talking loudly among themselves while serving customers.
The video attached to the post showed customers believed to be queueing near the payment counter.
In his post, the man also claimed that he had observed similar behaviour at other branches of the same supermarket chain.
As the post gained significant attention, other users alleged that they had encountered similar behaviour among staff at various branches of the supermarket.
“The staff talk loudly among themselves even while serving customers, and then they just hang around the cashier area. I mean, don’t employees receive any training before they start work? Basic etiquette? SOPs?” one user said, referring to the supermarket chain.
“Honestly, it feels like this is just the ‘culture’ among the staff. I’ve spoken up before — once about this issue, and another time about basic things like saying ‘thank you’ and giving a receipt. It’s like there’s no basic courtesy at all,” another user alleged.
