A man tried to beat the system by utilising not one, but four MyKads to purchase more than 100 litres of RON95 petrol in Kelantan recently.

Unfortunately, the plan backfired on him and it led to his arrest by the authorities, reported NST.

Used 4 MyKads at petrol station

Speaking to reporters at the Malaysia-Thailand border, Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the suspect was arrested while refuelling at a petrol station in Tumpat.

Upon his arrest, police found that he had four MyKads in his possession, none of which belonged to him and were registered under different individuals.

Under current laws, Malaysians can only pump RON95 using a MyKad that bears their name and photo in order to prevent fraud.

Yusoff said the case has been referred to the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, with the suspect being investigated under the National Registration Act.

He added police are also reviewing other laws which may be used against the suspect.

Meanwhile, Yusoff assured that there were no cases of Malaysians buying diesel in a neighbouring country and entering Kelantan via illegal routes in light of the ongoing Iran conflict.

“So far, we have not arrested any Malaysians attempting to bring in diesel from across the border,” he added.
