A Chinese man, believed to be suffering from mental illness, drove his car into the basketball court of Yik Ching High School in Pantai Remis, Perak, injuring a female student who was playing basketball.
The incident reportedly took place around 6 PM today. Following the incident, the suspect, a man in his 40s, voluntarily surrendered himself to the police.
Drove directly to the basketball court
According to initial reports, the suspect drove a white Perodua directly through the school gate and onto the covered basketball court.
A female student, who was playing at the time, was hit by the car, resulting in an injury to her leg.
It is understood that the man lives near the school, in the Taman Bintang area, and has been reported to have mental health issues. Upon realizing that the police were seeking to arrest him, the man turned himself in at the police station.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
