A Malaysian man has drawn widespread attention after revealing that he spends 10 hours every day commuting between Perlis and Kuala Lumpur for work — all to earn a living.

The man, who goes by the handle @bayhaki.sd on Threads, shared his grueling daily routine and asked netizens if such an arrangement was “normal.”

Is it normal to commute from Perlis to Kuala Lumpur daily for work? I’m riding a modified Honda EX5 Dream. Just wanted to ask those working in KL for some advice.”

According to his post, he leaves Perlis at 4am, stops by the Tapah R&R at around 6.45am for Subuh prayers, and reaches Kuala Lumpur by 9am to clock in for work.

After clocking out at 4pm, he immediately begins his journey home and reaches Perlis at around 9am.

That means he spends an average of 10 hours daily on the road, braving long-distance travel just to make ends meet.

‘Go to Singapore instead!’

The post sparked a lively discussion among Malaysians, with some sharing similar experiences of long commutes between cities.

Others advised him to consider working in Singapore instead, saying the travel time would be comparable but the pay much higher.

‘It’s not normal but there are people who do it hahaha. My fiancée’s colleague lives in Tanjung Malim but commutes to Subang daily.’
