A viral video showing an express bus driver operating a vehicle while a woman sat on his lap has drawn attention from authorities.
According to Berita Harian, police have since confirmed that the 36-year-old driver is married, while the woman involved is believed to be someone he knows.
According to Jasin district police chief Superintendent Lee Robert, the man is believed to be from Johor. However, the identity of the woman remains unknown at this time.
Authorities also said they have yet to establish the exact relationship between the two as both individuals have not yet been located.
Police said they are taking the matter seriously as it involves a public transport vehicle carrying passengers.
They have urged both the driver and the woman in the video to come forward to assist in investigations at the Jasin district police headquarters.
Members of the public with information have also been encouraged to contact the investigating officer or visit the nearest police station.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
In a separate development, the Road Transport Department has also opened an investigation into the incident following the viral footage.
