A 52-year-old property manager from Selangor struck it big after winning RM14.8 million jackpot using a pair of old car plate numbers he had been betting on for over a decade, as reported by 8TVnews.
The man placed a RM6 System bet on the numbers 9186 and 4828, which were inspired by the registration numbers of his former cars.
Said the numbers carried sentimental value
The winner shared that he had been consistently betting on the same numbers for more than 10 years because they reminded him of his old vehicles and the memories attached to them.
“I’ve been betting on these numbers for over 10 years simply because they remind me of my old cars. I never imagined both numbers would win together,” he said.
He also admitted that he used to find stories about jackpot winners becoming rich overnight hard to believe.
“Only when it happened to me did I realise miracles really can happen,” he added.
The lucky winner took home RM14,818,901.35 from the 4D Jackpot 1 prize, along with an additional RM336 in other winnings.
The jackpot prize was reportedly claimed at Sports Toto Malaysia’s headquarters.
As for his future plans, the man said he intends to manage the money carefully by investing in property and buying a luxury car.
Meanwhile, another winner from Kuala Lumpur also walked away with the remaining Jackpot 1 prize money amounting to RM1,975,853.50.
