A recent video has caught netizens’ attention after a Malaysian man ran into an issue while trying to check in for his flight from Kuala Lumpur to Manila at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2).

According to Sean (@oppasean._), it was his first time encountering such an issue, and when he approached the counter to find out what was going on, he was told that he needed a passport with at least six months’ validity to travel.

Malaysian rushes to renew passport less than an hour before flight

With less than an hour left before his flight, Sean then rushed to a nearby Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) office, hoping he could renew his passport in time to make his flight.

“I found out that there’s an immigration office nearby, and I have less than an hour to make this happen. I hope God will give me a second chance,” he said in the video.

Sean then booked an e-hailing ride and asked the driver to wait for him so they could head back to KLIA2 afterwards. However, things took another turn when he arrived at the immigration office and realised it was the wrong location. Thankfully, the driver quickly stepped in and helped him get to the correct office.

With everyone’s help, he managed to catch his flight

Upon arriving, JIM staff were fortunately quick to help Sean resolve the issue, allowing him to renew his passport just in time.

“I called the immigration office earlier and thankfully, they agreed to help. I’m so lucky that the immigration staff helped me, and they even reserved a spot for me just to get my passport done. I’m so grateful. Shoutout to all of them.”

Sean was later seen running through the airport and even hopping onto an airport buggy as he rushed to make his flight. Thankfully, he managed to board his flight in time.

“Moral of the story: Make sure you renew your passport so it has at least six months’ validity. Thank you to the immigration officers, the e-hailing driver, and all the staff who helped me. I love you all.”
