A pair of Malaysian newlyweds briefly stepped away from their wedding celebration to cast their votes in the 16th Johor State Election.
For bride Nurul Aida Mohd Kamal and her husband, Raja Akmal Hakim Raja Abdul Rahim, both 25, the day marked two important milestones in their lives.

Polling day fell on their wedding day
Reported by Utusan, Nurul Aida said she was surprised when the Election Commission announced that polling day would fall on the same day as her wedding reception.
Despite having a packed wedding schedule, she decided to make time to fulfil her responsibility as a voter.
Dressed in her wedding attire, Nurul Aida arrived at the polling centre at SK LKTP Ayer Hitam in Felda Ayer Hitam with her husband and members of their bridal party.
I am excited, and this has become a historic moment for my husband and me because our wedding and polling day fell on the same day,” she told reporters.
“I have fulfilled my responsibility as a voter even though I had other commitments.”
Nurul Aida added that it was her second time voting, although the experience was very different this time around.
Husband to vote at another polling centre
Nurul Aida shared that she is the third of four siblings, while her husband is the fifth of six siblings.
Her husband, who is also from Johor, was expected to cast his vote at another polling centre in Kluang after accompanying her.
My husband is also from Johor. He will be voting at a polling centre in Kluang,” she said.
The couple then continued with their wedding celebrations after completing their civic duties.
