KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Olympic Council (MOM) has confirmed the withdrawal of national Triathlon athlete Chong Xian Hao from participating in the XXII Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022, which will take place from 28 July to 8 August 2022.
Xian Hao’s withdrawal is due to an injury that occurred during a preparatory training session for the Commonwealth Games. The decision to withdraw was made after receiving confirmation of the extent of his injury from the National Sports Institute (ISN).
During the Gold Coast 2018 edition of the Commonwealth Games, Xian Hao finished in 30th place out of 36 participants with a time of 1:04:45s. His personal best is 1:00:30s.
Following his withdrawal, the number of athletes in the Malaysian Contingent to the XXII Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 was reduced to 104.
MOM hopes that Chong Xian Hao will fully recover from his injury and return to action in the near future. – The Vibes, July 23, 2022
