Going to a shopping mall to escape the heat is supposed to be relaxing, but for one man, it turned into a shocking experience after a parking machine allegedly showed that he needed to pay over RM20,000 just to leave.

According to an anonymous post shared in a Facebook group, the man said he had visited a mall to enjoy the air-conditioning and buy some daily necessities.

However, after spending less than an hour there, he was stunned when the parking exit machine displayed a fee of RM20,575.

‘Thought I teleported to Dubai!’

The man said he froze on the spot and initially thought the system was malfunctioning. He even joked that he felt like he had somehow “teleported to Dubai” after seeing the absurdly high amount.

To make things worse, the screen reportedly continued displaying the message “Please tap card”, which he described as feeling almost like the machine was mocking his helplessness.

What surprised him even more was that the issue was not isolated to just one exit lane.

Multiple parking exits affected

According to the post, several parking exit machines at the mall were also showing similarly outrageous charges, leaving many drivers confused and frustrated.

Some motorists reportedly stopped to take photos of the screens, while others tried discussing the issue among themselves or searched for staff members for assistance.

At one point, the situation allegedly became chaotic as many drivers had no idea how to leave the parking area and were forced to wait for the system to return to normal.

Believed to be system malfunction

The situation was later believed to have been caused by a parking system glitch, and the massive parking fees shown were not actual charges.

After the system was fixed, vehicles were gradually able to exit the parking lot as usual.

The anonymous poster also hoped that the mall management would improve its emergency response system in the future, such as making immediate announcements or arranging manual assistance to help drivers during similar incidents.
