A Malaysian was left dumbfounded when his friends used his overseas trip as a personal, complimentary shopping spree by asking him to buy handbags and other items, and claiming them as gifts.
Taking to the XUAN Facebook page, the Malaysian shared how he had informed his friends that he was going to Bangkok, Thailand, for a holiday, only to be asked to buy a variety of items.

A Malaysian going on a holiday abroad is treated as a ‘personal shopper’ by friends
He wrote, “Do you know anyone like this? The moment they hear you’re going abroad, they’ll suddenly remember things they ‘absolutely must buy‘?”
“I casually mentioned, ‘I’m going to Bangkok next week‘, and the next day, I got messages like ‘Buy me a bag from a certain brand, I heard it’s cheaper there‘, ‘Could you also buy me a lipstick from a certain brand‘ and ‘the snacks there are so delicious, I’ll send you a list later‘.”
He agreed to make the purchases, and thought that friends should help each other out and returned from the trip with full luggage that “felt like moving house.’
The friends’ antics didn’t end there
When he returned from his trip with all of the friends’ requested items, rather than picking up their items themselves, the friends proceeded to ask him to deliver the items.

On top of that, the friends expected the items as gifts rather than paying for them.
“I was genuinely stunned. I bought the items for you, and I have to deliver them to your house myself? Then, more than a week passed, and they showed no signs of coming to pick them up. Remembering that I had already paid for the items myself, I reluctantly decided to deliver them. After handing over the items, they didn’t bring up payment,” he lamented.
“I had to speak up myself, ‘I’ll send you the bill, can you transfer the money to me?‘, they actually looked surprised and said, ‘Huh? I thought you were giving them to me as gifts.’ At that moment, I really didn’t know what to say. After that incident, we never contacted each other again. I am just travelling, neither a human duty-free shop nor a readily available personal shopper,” he added.
