While many are still debating what jobs are “suitable” for women, one Malaysian woman has quietly been doing the exact opposite and thriving.
A viral video recently caught the attention of netizens, showing a woman confidently handling a massive container truck like it’s second nature.
But beyond the impressive visuals, her story reveals years of grit, passion, and refusing to conform to expectations.
Not new to the game
The woman, known as Zuraida, isn’t just hopping on a trend.
In an interview with Lobak Merah, she shared that she has been driving lorries since her younger days even before getting married.
For her, choosing this path was never about proving a point. She simply prefers hands-on, physically demanding work over conventional office jobs.
From highways to hands-on technical work
In the viral clip, Zuraida is seen driving along highways and even stepping down to handle technical tasks like locking the container, something that requires both skill and strength.
Yet, she takes it all in stride.
It’s okay to get dirty, as long as there’s income. Don’t care about what people say. If it’s something you like, just do it,” she said.
Turning criticism into motivation
Like many who step outside societal norms, Zuraida has faced her fair share of criticism. Some doubted her abilities simply because she’s a woman in a male-dominated field.
But instead of backing down, she used those doubts as fuel to push herself further and today, she’s proving them wrong one drive at a time.

With Labour Day around the corner, Zuraida hopes her journey can inspire others especially women; to pursue what they truly want.
As long as the work is honest and puts food on the table, she believes nothing else should matter.
