An elderly man selling fried Kuih Lobak (fried carrot cake) at the Bawah Jambatan Segama night market in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, is gaining significant attention online.
Many locals are sharing their fondness for the “uncle,” who has been a regular vendor at the market since the 1990s.
A taste of nostalgia in Kota Kinabalu
The Kota Kinabalu City Facebook page recently shared a photo of the uncle and his stall, reminiscing about how they have enjoyed his food since their school days.
The post reads:
“My heart is overwhelmed with emotion. It is quite melancholic to see that the uncle selling fried carrot cake at Pasar Segama is still there running his stall. Surely many people in Kota Kinabalu recognise him, right?”
“I have been buying fried carrot cake here since my school days in the ’90s. Yes, it is Halal. He cooks it right there in front of you. Let’s all visit his stall and show him some solid support. May this uncle always be in good health.”
