After days of hazy skies and poor visibility, Malaysians in the Klang Valley finally have something to celebrate.
On Sunday (Oct 25), several Malaysians took to Threads to share photos of clearer skies across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor as the haze appeared to be easing.
What surprised many was that one air quality reading in the Klang Valley was even lower than a reading recorded in Wellington, New Zealand.
KL records better air quality reading than Wellington
A Threads user shared a comparison of air quality readings from the Klang Valley and Wellington, New Zealand.
According to the screenshots, a monitoring platform recorded a US Air Quality Index (AQI) of just 23 in the Klang Valley, compared to 49 in Wellington.
Both readings were classified as “Good”, but the Klang Valley location recorded a lower pollution reading at the time.

The user expressed surprise over the figures, pointing out that KL’s air quality was better than Wellington’s that morning.

Malaysians excited to see clearer skies again
Apart from the air quality comparison, many Malaysians were also excited to see the familiar KL skyline becoming visible again.
One Threads user shared photos taken in Subang Jaya, showing a much clearer view of the buildings in the distance.

The user expressed disbelief at how quickly the skies had cleared.
Another user shared photos of Kuala Lumpur’s skyscrapers, saying that the haze had cleared up significantly.
Meanwhile, another Threads user posted a panoramic photo of KL’s skyline and expressed hope that the country would remain free from haze.
The user also looked forward to heading outdoors and exploring the city again.
The recent improvement comes after hazy conditions affected parts of Malaysia, raising concerns about air quality and outdoor activities.
Although the skies appear clearer, this does not necessarily mean that the haze has completely disappeared.
Air quality can still vary depending on the location and time of day.
