MACC arrests former minister over Tabung Haji RCI probe

A FORMER minister was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today in connection with its investigation into the issues raised by the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on Tabung Haji (TH).

The man, in his 60s, was believed to have been arrested at about 4.30 pm after turning up to give his statement at the MACC headquarters.

MACC chief commissioner Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrest when contacted, saying the case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.

Abd Halim added that the suspect would be brought before the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court tomorrow to be remanded.

Last week, the MACC detained and obtained a week-long remand for two former senior officials, including a former TH chairman, as part of its investigation.

The other person detained was a former Treasury secretary-general. - September 1, 2026.
