KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today continued recording the statement of a former chief financial officer (CFO) of a company owned by a statutory body as part of its investigation into findings contained in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Tabung Haji.

MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said the third day of questioning lasted more than seven hours at the commission's headquarters in Putrajaya, focusing on allegations of power abuse involving the purchase of shares in two plantation companies valued at about RM370 million.

He said the 60-year-old former senior executive arrived at the MACC headquarters at about 10 am and concluded giving his statement at 5.30 pm.

"The recording of his statement for the third day ended at about 5.30 pm and will continue tomorrow for the fourth day," he said when contacted today.

Abd Halim said the statement-recording session is expected to resume at 10 am tomorrow to complete the investigation.

Previously, the MACC detained the former CFO and the company's former chief executive officer, aged 68, after both appeared at the commission's headquarters to have their statements recorded.

The investigation is being conducted under laws relating to abuse of power over the acquisition of shares in two plantation companies worth about RM370 million, as highlighted in the Tabung Haji RCI report. - BERNAMA
