KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained two former senior government officials, including a former chairman of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) and a former Treasury secretary-general, to assist investigations into issues highlighted in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on TH.

According to a post on the MACC’s official TikTok account, the two men, both in their 60s, were detained at about 4pm on Wednesday after they arrived at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya, local media reported.

“They are expected to be brought before the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court tomorrow for a remand application,” the statement said.

MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman, confirmed the arrests with local media.

The two individuals are being investigated in connection with matters raised in the RCI report on TH, which examined various issues involving the institution’s management and governance between 2014 and 2020.

The RCI report, which was made public on July 29, identified several weaknesses in TH’s administration and governance during the period under review, while presenting 25 recommendations for improvements.

Earlier, a former TH chief executive officer was remanded for seven days until Aug 27 to assist investigations related to the same matter.

On Aug 14, seven individuals, including a former chief executive officer, company directors, a former company director and four former senior TH executives, were also detained by MACC to assist investigations into issues highlighted in the RCI report.

The latest arrests are part of MACC’s ongoing probe into alleged weaknesses and possible misconduct linked to the management of TH. - August 26, 2026
