The freezing of the accounts is said to be linked to an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of billions of ringgit linked to Covid-19 stimulus packages.

Bersatu chief Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has so far dismissed claims that there were misappropriation of Covid funds. He had said the funds under the economic stimulus packages was not in the form of projects that could be misappropriated as most of it was direct cash transfers to the public.
Muhyiddin had further said Bersatu’s accounts were transparent and all accounts were recorded, audited.
Meanwhile, Malaysiakini quoting Bersatu's Supreme Council leader Muhammad Faiz Na'aman confirmed of the bank freeze.
