PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will work closely with the police in investigating allegations involving MyEG Sdn Bhd (MyEG) and Zetrix AI Bhd, following a formal complaint lodged with the anti-graft agency last week.

In a statement today, MACC said it received the complaint on Oct 7 and was aware that the matter was already under investigation by the police (PDRM).

“MACC will cooperate closely with PDRM to examine the matter and share information in investigating offences that fall under the police’s jurisdiction,” it said.

The commission said the police would refer any information indicating possible elements of corruption to MACC for further action.

MACC also urged individuals with relevant information to come forward and assist the authorities, while cautioning the public against speculation or the spread of unverified information that could compromise the investigation.

It stressed that the investigation would be conducted independently, fairly and in accordance with the law.

The investigation follows the suspension of MyEG and Zetrix AI as government revenue collection agents by the Transport Ministry and the Road Transport Department (RTD) on Oct 5 over RM314 million in outstanding remittances.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke previously said the amount involved government revenue collected between May 19 and Sept 30, which the companies had failed to remit despite receiving 35 reminders from the authorities.

He also disclosed that a RM231 million cheque issued by MyEG could not be processed after the company instructed the bank not to proceed with the payment.

Following the suspension, Zetrix AI said it had submitted a proposed settlement to the government and was working to resolve its outstanding obligations and restore the affected services, subject to regulatory approval.
