KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has proposed three governance reforms to Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) to address misuse of power of attorney in business license applications.
The proposals include a cross-verification system for applications using authorization letters, clear guidelines for suspension and cancellation of licenses via designated committees, and enforcement of direct verification with license holders.
State MACC Director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah said investigations revealed cases of forged documents and unauthorized use of personal identification to register businesses with DBKK and district offices.
DBKK Deputy Director (Operations) Robert Lipon welcomed the recommendations and pledged corrective action.
