FORMER Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is scheduled to return to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) this Thursday to continue giving his statement in an ongoing investigation into corruption and money laundering.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed that the upcoming session, set for April 24, will focus specifically on Ismail Sabri’s previous asset declaration.
“His statement is expected to continue on Thursday, April 24. Datuk Ismail Sabri has been called in again by the MACC to proceed with the recording of his statement, and as I’ve said before, this session relates to his declaration of assets submitted to us under Section 36(1) of the MACC Act 2009,” Azam said.
He was speaking briefly to reporters after the 11th CeIO Convocation Ceremony held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) today.
To date, a total of 33 individuals have had their statements recorded to assist with the investigation.
On 3 March, Azam confirmed that Ismail Sabri is a suspect in the probe, which involves allegations of corruption and money laundering. The case follows the MACC’s discovery of approximately RM170 million in cash across multiple currencies, along with 16 kilograms of gold bars, during a raid on a safe house. - April 22, 2025
