Not so long ago—okay, exactly during campaign season—the Madani state government floated into power on a cloud of moral superiority. “Clean governance,” they said. “Transparency,” they promised. “Reform,” they shouted from every ceramah stage, accompanied by dramatic hand gestures and, on occasion, a conveniently timed downpour to symbolise divine approval.

Fast forward to today, and suddenly the same Madani warriors appear to have misplaced their voices. Perhaps the cat got their tongue—or maybe it was a five-star hotel pillow.

Because now the spotlight isn’t on the rakyat’s struggle or noble governance ideals, but on one very blessed aide of the Menteri Besar. https://newswav.com/A2511_DtJn53?s=A_ImUcXXw&language=en

Blessed not with humility, sadly, but with a RM3 million bungalow, lavish overseas holidays, luxury hotels and a lifestyle that would make even KL’s most determined socialites quietly wonder if they chose the wrong career. https://newswav.com/A2511_DtJn53?s=A_ImUcXXw&language=en

And the best part? All this broke not through MACC raids or investigative journalism, but through the favourite political weapon of 2025:

A WhatsApp group.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the mighty “MB Selangor” WhatsApp group—featuring a mysterious administrator named Madani—has done what institutions, committees and moral compasses apparently cannot: ask the obvious questions.

Questions like:

“How does one afford a RM3 million bungalow?”

“Why is one chap holding so many top posts—did HR run out of names?”

“Can someone please explain these five-star hotel stays that look like they were taken straight from a tourism ad?”

To add flavour, the administrator even attached photos of the aide holidaying abroad with the family. Because nothing says “I’m innocent” quite like posing in front of a European fountain wearing sunglasses that cost more than Selangor’s library budget.

Then came the classic political line of the decade:

“The aide is unable to comment.”

Of course he is. It’s hard to comment when you’re probably adjusting to jet lag from your business-class flight.

Meanwhile, the Menteri Besar—champion of accountability, promoter of transparency, defender of good governance—has suddenly adopted a vow of silence. FMT called him.

Malaysiakini called him. The rakyat whispered his name into the wind. But all we got was the same sound you hear when you open your wallet after paying your TNB bill:

Nothing.

Strange, isn’t it? That the administration that rode so confidently on the “Madani” horse now panics when the horse stumbles on a RM3 million bungalow.

But nothing beats the administrator’s final flourish:

“MACC please investigate. This is the people’s money.” https://newswav.com/A2511_DtJn53?s=A_ImUcXXw&language=en

In Malaysia, that line is equivalent to “We need to talk” in a relationship. You already know it’s bad.

But the pièce de résistance was this challenge:

“If the MB files a police report, I will reveal the evidence.” https://newswav.com/A2511_DtJn53?s=A_ImUcXXw&language=en

Aha. The political equivalent of “Come at me, bro.”

And still—silence from the MB’s office.

Look, maybe there’s a perfectly innocent explanation.

Maybe the RM3 million bungalow was on sale.

Maybe the holidays were sponsored by a very generous “uncle.”

Maybe the five-star hotels had coupons.

Maybe holding multiple state posts is just... a hobby?

But Malaysians aren’t unreasonable.

We’re not asking for much—just an explanation from a government that promised us we’d always get one.

Yet here we are: a Madani government unable to speak, an aide “unable to comment,” and a rakyat increasingly unable to ignore the scent of hypocrisy, wafting stronger than durian season in PJ. https://newswav.com/A2511_DtJn53?s=A_ImUcXXw&language=en

So, dear MB, a gentle reminder:

When you campaign on transparency, it’s best not to disappear the moment the spotlight turns toward your own backyard. Or, in this case, your aide’s RM3 million one.

As we await answers, grab your muruku or keropok lekor. This drama might just become Selangor’s highest-rated WhatsApp soap opera.

Editorial note: As of November 6th, MB has responded saying allegations are malicious and political.
