The MADANI government remains committed to strengthening tahfiz education to develop alongside mainstream schooling, says minister Zulkifli Hasan.

KUALA LUMPUR: The MADANI Government remains committed to strengthening tahfiz education so that it develops alongside mainstream education, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan.

He said tahfiz education is not only about producing Quran memorisers, but also building well-rounded individuals with knowledge, strong character and skills who can contribute to national development.

“This year’s convocation is especially meaningful as it is held in conjunction with the Diamond Jubilee marking 60 years of Darul Quran (DQ) JAKIM since its establishment in 1966. Six decades of excellence have made DQ a leading national tahfiz institution that has produced quality and professional huffaz.

“To date, DQ has produced 12,633 huffaz serving in various sectors, including education, syariah judiciary, dakwah, research, administration and professional fields,” he told a press conference after the 34th DQ JAKIM convocation ceremony here today.

Zulkifli said DQ was established with the aim of producing huffaz who can become inheritors of knowledge, community leaders and builders of an Islamic civilisation based on the Quran.

He said the Diamond Jubilee should not only reflect past achievements, but also mark the beginning of greater transformation.

“Let the legacy of 60 years inspire us to build the next 60 years with greater excellence,” he said.

He also thanked the leadership and staff of DQ JAKIM for their commitment in developing the institution.

At the ceremony, 700 graduates received their certificates, comprising 37 Bachelor’s degree graduates in collaboration with Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), 454 Diploma in Quran and Qiraat graduates, 204 Tahfiz certification programme graduates, and five Basic Tahfiz certificate graduates.
